Jeffrey Solomon is a traveler.
He is and has always been so, having traveled to thirty-eight countries.*
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, at the age two he boarded the Union Castle steamship from South Africa to Southampton, England and back. His earliest memory is of crossing the equator and being dunked in a large barrel of water by the crew as part of Neptune's ritual for anyone crossing the equator for the first time.
At the age of eight he boarded the first BOAC Comet jetliner service along with his father for a trip to England. At age ten the family went to America where he lived before returning to South Africa at age twelve.
Following his graduation from the Johannesburg School of Art and a brief stint in the South African Air Force, he worked for the next few years for a wholesale watch importer. He took time off to travel around Europe before returning and starting his own business at the age of twenty- five. During this time he earned his Diploma in Marketing Management.
Over the following twelve years he built up a consumer electronics wholesale company and became an established businessman. His company was one of the largest watch importers in South Africa and a member of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce.
In 1986 following a German Bank speculation of the South African Rand, the South African currency collapsed and the economy disintergrated. South Africa fell into political turmoil. Having lost a substantial amount in the collapse of the economy Jeffrey and his young family left South Africa.
Facing an uncharted future, they went to the USA. There he opened one of the first sports restaurants. During the following twelve years he created a chain of four retail stores and started a travel consultancy.
It was around this time that he was invited to India to join a group whose travel he had booked. Upon his return from India, Jeffrey had a powerful life changing dream. The experience of which shattered all his preconceived ideas. He understood that the choice of leaving his present life was his alone to make. Poised as he was and in a near death state, he realized that he could either leave this life or by consciously being responsible for, and changing all the things and beliefs that no longer worked for him.
He resolved to find the meaning and the answers to life. This was the experience that led him over four years to write his book, "Playing in the Mind of God"
Today, Jeffrey lives in Florida with Sharda they have a unique property. A retreat called Whispers of Treasure Island.
